The duration of studies at the PSP leading to receiving the Postgraduate Diploma (MPS) is defined as a minimum of four (4) semesters, which includes the time for preparation and assessment of the Postgraduate Thesis.

In accordance with paragraph 2 of article 33 of Law 4485/2017 (114 A΄), postgraduate students are provided with the possibility of part-time study for working students, the duration of which cannot exceed twice the normal tuition period. Part-time study is also provided for non-working postgraduate students who are unable to meet the minimum requirements of the “full” study program and for special extremely serious cases, for which the Assembly of the Department of Medicine decides after a proposal from the Coordinating Committee (C.C.).

Also, postgraduate students may be granted, upon submission of a relevant application, a temporary suspension of studies, which cannot exceed two (2) semesters. During the suspension, the postgraduate student loses their status as a student. The time of the suspension is not counted towards the maximum duration of regular studies.

Finally, only in special cases, an extension of studies for up to one (1) academic year is granted, following a reasoned decision of the C.C. and approval by the Assembly of the Department of Medicine.
